HEAVENLY TICKLES

My Bible tells me in Proverbs 17:22 that a merry heart does good like medicine. It is so healthful to be joyful and cheerful. In the world we live in today, there are so many negative things going on that it is up to us to take a moment to focus on happy things. I once read a scientific article that said for good health, a person should laugh at least 13 times a day. So let me help you out with one of your laughs for today.

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

A Sunday School teacher decided to have her 2nd grade class memorize Psalm 23, one of the most quoted passages of the Bible. She gave the children a whole month to memorize the chapter. One little boy was very excited about the task but he seemed to have difficulty memorizing the Psalm. Although he practiced and practiced, he could barely get past memorizing the first line. Finally the day came when it was time for each of the children to take a turn to recite Psalm 23 before the congregation. The little boy was nervous. When his turn finally came, he stepped up to the microphone and said, "The Lord is my Shepherd.......... and that's all I need to know."

HAPPY TRAILS (Vintage Trailers)

Even though it is still blazing hot where I live, I am starting to get excited about the upcoming Fall. Labor Day has come and gone. September 22 will mark the first official day of Fall in the Northern Hemisphere which means that Summer is quickly coming to an end. It will begin to get darker outside earlier and also a bit cooler. So take advantage of these final few days of Summer. Get in one last little mini, weekend vacation if you can. Pack up the car, the family and the pet (if you have one) and enjoy the last moments of the Summer.

Many people who love vintage items are having a good time finding, restoring, decorating and using vintage trailers for their weekend travels. I think this is such a nifty little idea as I am a lover of all things vintage. They are just so stinkin' cute that I can't decide which one is my favorite. I think they are all just darling. Anyway, HAPPY TRAILS to the SUMMER.....or should I say TRAILERS.

OLD BOOK OR NEW WREATH?

I am a wreath lover. I always have one displayed on the front door of my home 12 months of the year. I change them according to the seasons of course but I always have one displayed. Something about a wreath on a door or in a room seems welcoming and inviting to me. I've been wanting a wreath to hang in my craft/sewing room and I have stumbled on a fun and crafty way to create one. All you need is a glue gun, old book, magazine, newspaper, phonebook or some sheet music that you never want to use again. Soon, you will be looking at a cute TRASH to TREASURE, vintage inspired wreath. A particular store that we are all familiar with was selling these wreaths for a ridiculous amount and these wreaths are also being sold at craft fairs for about the same ridiculous price. Why not create one of your very own? I found some pictures of different ways a book wreath can be made to give you inspiration and http://www.livingwithlindsay.com/ has an easy to follow tutorial. Just look in her November, 2009 archives and you should easily find it. I've already made a small one just to see how it would come out and now I will be creating a larger one for my craft room. I hope some of you who like vintage inspired items will get a chance to create one as well. Enjoy!
