DO NOT BE AFRAID!
Sometimes this world can be a scary place. If you watch the nightly news, you know this to be true. The "HUG FROM GOD" for today is "DO NOT BE AFRAID". No matter what happens in our daily personal lives or no matter what happens in the world around us, we need to know that God is our comforter and peace.
Psalm 46:1-2 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed, and through the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.
Psalm 34:4 I sought the Lord and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
I Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you.

A TAD BIT MORE OF FALL
It took so long for the cooler weather to arrive where I live that I am just now FEELING the FALL. Can you believe that October is almost over? Thanksgiving will be here before you can blink. Anyway, I added a tad bit of Fall touches around the house. Huggalulu (the polymer clay girl) decided to jump in a few of the pictures and tend to her hostessing duties. She was nowhere to be found when all of the candy disappeared from the candy dish though. I wonder who ate it? HUGGALULU...where are you? LOL

BARGAIN BASEMENT BALLERINA BARBIE
I am such an off-beat doll collector. My small collection is full of random odds and ends. I think that the raggedy, plushy, cuddly or soft sculpture dolls would have to be the types that most catch my eye, however; I just simply like what I like and I know it when I see it. Funny thing.... I have observed that there is one common thread to my collecting. I am so CHEAP!!!! LOL I love dolls at a dime store price. The cuter the doll and the cheaper that I can find her, the more ecstatic I become about my find. A few months ago, I acquired a MY CHILD doll. (The baby doll above dressed in peach) I've been wanting one for years. These dolls have become collectors items and are getting quite pricey in the collecting world depending on the rarity of the skin tone, outfit, condition or hair color. I received mine from a private collector who took pity on me & my pocketbook and let me have her for a ridiculous discount compared to what she is worth. She is my favorite doll. This weekend, I hit the "Barbie Jackpot". I happened upon a Ballerina Barbie. She isn't rare or anything but I think she is so pretty. The best thing about my find was that the only way she could have been any cheaper was if I had gotten her for free. Yep, I'd say that makes her even prettier in my book. LOL Do any of you have a doll or something >else that you really like and it seems even more lovely than it really is because it was at a bargain basement price or free? Do tell!!!!!!

YUM-O EASY SATURDAY PANCAKES
During the week, the breakfasts in my house usually consist of items that can be eaten while walking out of the door or driving in the car but Saturdays are SIT DOWN AT THE TABLE kind of breakfasts. I think it is important to have family meals together as much as possible. We ususally do this each day at Dinner time but Saturdays are our "Family Breakfast" mornings. My son's favorite is PANCAKES so I have to keep plenty of pancake mix on hand. Here is a recipe to make a good quantity of instant pancake mix to store. It really makes things quick and easy. This mix is good for approximately 80 4 inch pancakes. My crazy pancakes end up being all different sizes ranging from small to large (as you can see in the pictures) so I never get 80 pancakes. You can get up ahead of the family and make the pancakes quickly. If the family isn't ready to eat yet and/or you want to go back to sleep for a little bit, place the pancakes in a TORTILLA WARMER. Your pancakes will still be nice and warm when you are ready for them.
RECIPE FOR HOMEMADE INSTANT PANCAKES
12 C sifted flour
4 C instant dry powdered milk
3/4 C baking powder
3/4 C sugar
2 T. salt
Keep in: Air Tight Container or Large Zip Lock Bag
DIRECTIONS:
1 1/2 C instant homemade pancake mix
1 egg
2 tbsp. oil
Dash vanilla extract (optional)
Mix ingredients and pour onto a hot greased skillet. When bubbles form on the top, flip and brown the other side. Remove from the skillet and place in a TORTILLA WARMER until ready to eat. ENJOY!!!!!!

SUNSHINE AND RAIN
This morning I awakened to the sound of pounding rain on my roof. It is one of those dark kind of mornings that makes you want to snuggle deeply under the covers or better yet, pull the covers right over your head and just be still.
Too bad! There is a lot that needs to get done today and I can't stay under the covers. Many times we go through stormy days in our lives. We can get so bombarded with the dreary attacks that we can become paralyzed. God wants us to know that whatever storms of life come upon us, we must press our way to get out from under the covers. Trust the Lord. Know that he is with you during the storm. Storms don't last forever. The sun ALWAYS SHINES AGAIN.

INTRODUCING HUGGALULU (The Polymer Clay Girl)
In my previous post, I shared with you my newfound love of crafting with Polymer Clay. I would like to introduce to you a girl I made from Polymer Clay. Her name is Huggalulu and she will be a hostess on my blog page from time to time. Actually, you are listening to her theme music playing in the background.
She lives in a doll house that my Father designed for me many years ago. I think she may be a tad bit bored living there all alone. I figured it would do her some good to become the spokesmodel for my blog. I think she is precious and I hope you like her too.

HUGS FROM GOD
Reading the Bible is so comforting to me. It is just like getting a big hug from God. This is a beautiful scripture to meditate on today:
2 Chronicles 16:9 The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to him.
Isn't it wonderful to know that God sees everything and that he is watching over you? Even when things seem bleak, just remember that God sees it and that He loves and cares about you. He knows if your heart is loyal to him and He wants to show himself strong on your behalf.

FALLING FOR FALL
I think the Fall has to be one of my favorite times of the year. I love the colors of Fall, the crisp change in the temperature and the exciting anticipation of the upcoming Holidays.
After a long, hot summer here in Texas with the temperatures soaring into the 90's and 100's most days, the mid-80's seemed like a dream come true. Today our temps ranged within the 50's to 70's. Sounds like sweater weather to me. I am so excited. I am falling for Fall.
The picture above is a Carnival Glass Bowl that belonged to my now, dearly departed Mother-In Law. This bowl has been passed to me and I think it looks just lovely with the Fall floral display.
I only did a little bit of outdoor decorating on my porch this year. I think that because the blazing heat has lasted until recently, I could not wrap my brain around the idea of Fall decorating. That is....until now!

WELCOME TO MY PAGE
Copyright 2009 by Hugs and Keepsakes Common Law Literacy Property
Today is my first day posting on my new blog. In other words, I only have one reader. That reader would be ME. Yay ME! I count don't I?
It is my desire to fill this blog with all of the things that I love and enjoy. Home Decor, Crafting of all sorts, Recipes, Tutorials, Classic and Vintage Goodies, Fun, Friendship, Laughter, Traditions, Family Relations, Books, Music, Collections, Classic Movies and let's not forget, Scriptural Encouragement. All of these things give me the warm fuzzies. They are like HUGS all bottled up in a JAR. So let's open up the jar and let the HUGS begin.
